Suffering from a brain or head injury can leave people needing around the clock care and specialist equipment to help them live their lives as normal as possible. It can be a traumatic, life changing event not just for the person suffering with the injury but also their family, friends and loved ones.

Head and brain injuries are often serious and can happen in a number of different ways. If you or your loved one has suffered from an accident that caused a fatal head or brain injury within the last two and a half years that was not your fault then Action Legal can help you process a claim for compensation.

There are multiple types of brain and head injuries you could suffer during an accident, below is a list of the most common ones Action Legal deals with:

  • Concussion- occurs when the person has a bump to the head. Symptoms of concussion include; loss of consciousness, headaches, confusion, dizziness and problems with vision. The person will need to be monitored as there could be a much more serious head injury
  • Open head injury- this happens when a person violently hits their head or their skull is pierced. Also known as a penetrating head injury, symptoms and treatments vary for this injury, depending on how bad the injury is and where it is on the head
  • Subdural haematoma- condition in which blood pools between the surface of the brain and the skull. Subdural hematomas can develop slowly over weeks following the injury and include symptoms are that of a severe concussion including nausea and confusion. People with these symptoms should seek medical advice immediately.
  • Diffuse axonal injury- an injury in which the connections between cells in the brain get broken. Occurs when head is jolted around in an accident and can have serious consequences on a person's health.
  • Subarachnoid haemorrhage- bleeding on the surface of the brain. Usually no warning signals and symptoms of sudden headaches, sickness and blurred vision can happen instantly.
